CHALKER/SANGER SHORT FILM FUND 2024 (updated 25 May, 2024)
Overview
Due to many enquiries we have updated the no of pages to 20 max
We are looking for a 7-20 page short film, of any genre except experimental and animation, in other words a live action drama. One of the leads of the story must be an older woman aged 50 plus. We will award up to £10,000 according to the budget and the funds we have coming in and we will also look to provide post production services and possibly lighting and camera hire in the package.
Please read the following very carefully:
1. Entries can be from producers or scriptwriters. Scriptwriters will have the option to have their film made by Lumino Films, a professional film making production company www.luminofilms.co.uk
2. All entries must be 7-20 pages long and properly formatted in the English language. Entries will be accepted worldwide.
3. One of the leading character must be a female of age 50 plus.
4. We or the production company must aim to cast one character from recently graduated drama school students or the NYT.
5. There are to be a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 human characters.
6. The script can be of any genre except experimental and animation.
7. The entry fee will be from £15-40 depending on the date of entry.
8.. Entry is open from 30 April to midnight GMT on 1 September, 2024.
9. The Winner will be announced on 1 October, 2024
10. The film must be filmed by March 2025, depending on the lead actor’s availability. the final edited film must be finished by June 2025.
11. A Producer who enters and gets to the final 6 must provide a top sheet budget and show where other funds are coming from if their budget is over what is offered. This money must already be in place.
12. The funds are not available to anyone who has already made a film and seeking gap funding.
13. The logo of this film fund needs to be incorporated into the film credits and opening page and the two founders need to be credited as executive producers on the film and on Imdb.
14. The winner must give £500 of their budget to the writer.
15. Entry form download link will be sent on receipt of payment.
EARLYBIRD £15 until May 31, 2024
MID ENTRY £25 until August 14, 2024 (extended)
LATE ENTRY £40 until midnight GMT September 1, 2024
The film scripts will be judged on:
1. Originality of Idea
2. Arc of the story
3. Interesting Characters
4. Structure
5. Message
The judges analysed and deliberated over all the scripts that were entered. We had a uniform marking scheme and came out with the following finalists:

2. Jean Maye - Undiscovered
3. Liam Currie - Feathers and Blood
4.Desi Lyon - Mr Perfect
5. Kimberley Olson - Having Babies with Psychopaths
6. Jen Lim - Leftovers
7. Olga Rosanova - The Crossing
8. Jaqueline Cloake - Marmalade
Then we came down on these with only the winner getting the prize. We hope to have this film made early next year.

Ellie Wallace is an award winning novelist, story editor and screenwriter with a background in crisis management and public relations. Her corporate storytelling films gained recognition at the New York Film Festival created with Pete Stevenson at The Edge Picture Company. Born in Scotland, Ellie returns to her ancestral roots for inspiration. She's currently working with a Producer on a Scottish Christmas family feature and writing a historic Scottish female football limited series. She looks for stories that inspire change; stories that she can't wait to share.
